...Oh, and thanks for the Calico and the Dark Force.

The Calico tasted much better in bottles. I'm sure that Cataratas must have screwed something up with that pint. I bet it was poured just after cleaning, like you said.

Dark Force was great to try. I've really got into the habit recently of finishing nights with an Imperial - remember I said that I missed that at Taproom? It was a perfect ending to the tasting session.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6643956479685645166.post-6732074245943737532009-07-06T20:41:01.722-07:002009-07-06T20:41:01.722-07:00Hey Chuwy,

Don't Mention The War Pilsner
2. America v Britain IPA
3. Coconut Wheat Porter
4. Let's drinking White Ale (Kiuchi)
5. Let's drinking with Enjoy Our IPA (Kiuchi)

#2 was the one you said tasted like bananas :) It's the one with rye and wheat - correct writeup, wrong pic. For some reason, #2 was much colder than it should have been. #5 you commented was less like an IPA and more like an amber ale - not surprising since Kiuchi isn't really set up for IPAs.

The carb thing.. I'd kegged the Pilsner and Wheat Porter that morning and I put some into plastic bottles before kegging so that you could try it. To force-carb, you attach a special "carb cap" to the bottles, hook up the gas to the cap, give it a blast of gas, unhook the gas, shake, then repeat hook-blast-unhook-shake a few times, stick in the fridge for an hour, or so, repeat the process, etc. Problem is that I only had one carb cap and had to carb two beers. The pilsner didn't get an adequate blasting I think.

At the moment I have #1, #2, #3 on draft at home - you're welcome to come and consume them anytime. Well, not anytime. Don't want you banging on my door when you've missed the last train back from Shibuya - but you know what I mean.

I seem to recall we left you the money for the 12's... didn't we? We got the train literally as the doors were closing.

By the way, thanks for your comments on the beers on the night - very good to get a beer drinker's perspective rather than a homebrewers perspective. I just wish the coconut wheat porter had been ready in time for the WanCup.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6643956479685645166.post-57108864985425461992009-07-06T19:35:17.302-07:002009-07-06T19:35:17.302-07:00Big Eye IPA is perhaps the best I've had, alon...Big Eye IPA is perhaps the best I've had, along with Stone IPA and
Titan. Great beers.
Callico is ok ubt I dont love ambers. The dorado good. The imperial coffee porter with vanilla (victory at Sea) has too much vanilla but is an otherwise good beer. If they would jsut tone down the vanilla a few notches, it could be excellent.Ivor Biggunhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04006837084544398438noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6643956479685645166.post-41791653686641864442009-07-06T19:28:10.286-07:002009-07-06T19:28:10.286-07:00Nicely done Chuwy! I don't think it affects the taste too much--but for sure pouring it out of big glass bottle looks cooler!

Hope I can try some of homebrew's Beers one day--if he ever forgives me!

I hope to get a bunch of ballast point stuff when I am home. That Sergio's place I posted looks like a real winner!!!DHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01901484200231742657noreply@blogger.com
